Towards the end of life, people often have major medical and nursing needs. Our vision is to create virtual care venues where clients can promptly get help without needing to go to hospitals or wait in long queues. With virtual care venues, doctors can diagnose ill-health, arrange treatment and follow up results — all without patients needing to leave home. They can still be ‘admitted to hospital’ in roughly the same way as now. If necessary, the doctor can easily call in various specialists, even from other hospitals, and they can all help the patient at the same time. Lead times are thus cut while patients get access to the staff who are best suited to looking after them. The virtual care venue also works superbly for people who are not ‘ill enough’ to go to hospital, but who still need to be in continuous touch with care professionals. New Tools for Health works to create solutions, services and products to turn the virtual care venue into reality. Our ambition is to reduce the number of people who need to visit healthcare facilities, while enhancing their security, comfort and convenience. |
