– Welcome to the care of the future

New Tools for Health (Hälsans nya verktyg, a Swedish association) develops new products and services to meet growing future care needs. Our work focuses on efficient home-based healthcare and community care.
With Sweden’s ageing population, care needs are growing constantly while the resources available to look after those who need help and support are shrinking. Only a dual approach can resolve this contradiction.
First, innovative thinking is called for. Quite simply, universal care will be impossible if we go on working in the same way. Second, we must devise new products and services (tools) to meet the increasing needs with no deterioration in quality or security.
New Tools for Health (NTFH) develops new products and services for health and community care. For several reasons, our approach is home-based. Our vision is for half of all outpatients in primary care to be able to meet their own needs by other means, preferably in their own homes. We think, too, that people want to avoid going to hospital if they can stay at home just as well, still receiving the same help. In our experience, people with disabilities and the elderly alike wish to go on living in their own homes as long as they can, even when their care needs expand.
Specifically, we support needs-oriented research in health sciences and facilitate collaboration between the business sector, research community and care providers, thereby fostering new products and services. Our notion of success is to bring people who make demands into contact with those who solve problems and people who are good at commercialising ideas. We support the whole process, from needs, ideas and prestudies to development, commercialisation and tools that, in the long term, can reach an international market.
